Firebot
Abstract Everyday firefighters around the world
risk their lives to save the possessions and
lives of others. There are many dangers to
firefighters including fire, and buildings
collapses. The Firebot will be able to seek and
put out fires without endangering human lives.

Motors -Light, Sound, and Touch Sensors
Touch Sensor This sensor allows the robot to
feel something that it runs into. For our
applications, we set up a system using this
sensor to keep the robot from falling off of a
surface, simulating the robot staying away from
holes in the floors of burning buildings.
Motors These power the robot. Our robot uses two
motors that respond to what the NXT brick tells
them based on what the sensors pick up. They can
move independently or together, backwards and
forwards.
The NXT Brick This is the robots control
center. It contains information about the program
it is to run. It takes in information from the
sensors, and tells the motors what to do based on
what the program it is running says to do.
Sound Sensor This sensor allows the robot to
listen and react to sounds. We used this sensor
so the robot can listen for the sound of a fire
alarm, and subsequently begin running the
firefighting program.
Light Sensor This sensor allows the robot to
sense light, and move towards it when directed.
This simulates the robot sensing and moving to a
fire to put it out.
