1
The Jealous Husband
  • The story of Buck Ruxton is a local true crime
    story from Lancasters past.
  • Many little legends have grown over time about
Dr. Ruxton, connected to the events of his life
    and death.
  • This is a horrific story about a jealous husband.
It is a story as old as time.

BUCK RUXTON
  • Doctor Buck Ruxton,
  • 1930s
  • Born Bukhtyar Rustomji Ratanji Hakim
  • A well respected member of the community.
  • 2 Dalton Square, Lancaster
  • Lived with his wife Isabella Kerr, their three
    children and their housemaid

3
Till Death Do Us Part
  • Isabella was an attractive and popular lady, who
    enjoyed going out socially.
  • Buck Ruxton found Isabellas social life
    difficult to accept.
  • Ruxton became jealous of Isabellas popularity,
exploding into fits of rage behind closed doors.
  • On the 15th September 1935, Ruxton strangled
Isabella with his bare hands, killing her.

4
Desperation
  • In order to prevent their housemaid, Mary Jane
Rogerson, from discovering his crime he
    suffocated her too.
  • Ruxton then proceeded to dismember and mutilate
both bodies to hide their identities.
  • He wrapped the remains in a Lancaster newspaper,
and dumped them 100 miles north in a ravine in
    Scotland.

5
Cleverness and Clumsiness
  • Soon after the murder, Ruxton asked a patient to
help clean the house, and to dispose of a blood
    stained suit.
  • After this, he told a relative that he suspected
Isabella had run away with a young man.
  • Near Moffat, in Scotland, two young women out
walking saw what appeared to be a human leg.
  • The police were called and 43 pieces of human
    remains were painstakingly recovered.

6
From Twisted Jealousy To A Twisted Rope
  • After an 11 day trial, Dr. Ruxton was found
    guilty of murdering his wife.
  • There was not enough evidence to convict him of
    Mary-Jane Rogersons murder.
  • He whispered quietly I am very sorry.
  • Dr Ruxton was hanged on the 12th May 1936.
