3PLEASE NOTE
To set Eudora defaults PC users select
TOOLS/Options Mac users select
SPECIAL/Settings PC Mac users will NOT have
identical default settings (Mac users will
notice some default icons will be in different
location, and some PC defaults setting screens
are not available on the Mac version)

Check Mail Every Minutes - set Eudora to
automatically connect to the server, check
for new mail and pull new mail messages
down Save Password - if checked no need to
enter password to load Eudora

Leave Mail on Server - check this box if on
laptop or have remote computer mail remains on
server can be accessed at another computer
later

Keep Copies of Outgoing Mail - check box to have
copy of all outgoing messages put in Out Mailbox
Default Signature - select the Signature
file set as a default for new messages (you can
then set for no signature within a mail
message)

Be careful with these settings - this is a
default setting for ALL messages.

MIME - this is the default setting for PCs for
file attachment transfers (PC) BinHex - default
setting for Macs for file attachment transfers
(Mac default) UUENCODE - this is new encoding in
4.0 for file attachment transfers (PC) Put Text
Attachment in Body of Message - if checked, this
would pull a text file attached to a message
directly into the message area not on
Macs Attachment Directory - this is the
directory where attached files sent to you get
copied--simply doubleclick directory change
directory

Message -Screen Setting can be changed by
clicking down arrow and changing selection

Preview Pane -You can uncheck box
Show message preview pane if you
dont want to see the message box at
bottom of message listing within mailbox
not an option on Macs

If any of these options are ON (box checked),
that column is displayed in the mailbox windows
Check this to show lines between messages

You can now send styled HTML text in addition to
plain text - Please be careful ! Older versions
of Eudora do NOT support the HTML styled text!
Other email systems may not support HTML
If you check this box, Eudora will prompt
you when you click SEND you can choose
plain/styled

You can color code (label) your messages - give
your label a name, select a color. Once this is
set, you can select a message, rightmouse click,
and choose Change label to select the label/color

Use an Alert - if this is checked, an
alert dialog box notifies you when mail is
received Open Mailbox - if checked, mailboxes
are automatically opened when new mail arrives
in them, and the first unread message of last
unread batch of msgs is selected Play a Sound -
check this box if you want to play a sound when
Eudora needs attention--to select a sound (.wav)
file, click on button below the Play a Sound
option. Select a sound Generate Filter Report -
If this is checked, a filter report is
generated when filters are used

Mac users Start Eudora option is not an
option on Macs - Try something that requires
too much memory is an option on Macs

These options control some of Eudoras
advanced network functions - they should NOT
be modified without first consulting with your
email Administrator.

These options control the Eudora MAPI Server -
there should be no need to alter this screen

These options control the Kerberos
authentication system. If your network uses
Kerberos for authentication, the appropriate
options are provided by your email administrator

Switch Messages With section - you can set up
Eudora to use the arrow keys, Ctrl/, or ALT/
keys to switch among messages. Empty Trash When
Exiting - if this is checked, the Trash mailbox
will be emptied automatically when you exit
Eudora. Turbo Redirect - if this is checked, a
redirected message is created with the
specified recipient, the message is queued, and
original message is deleted

- To highlight more than one message on your
message list to transfer or delete, etc - Highlight block of msgs Click first message, then
SHIFT/click last message - Highlight random msgs CTRL/click or
COMMAND/click (Mac) - To select all msgs fromthe same person on
list ALT/click msg OPTION/click (Mac)

- Transfer a copy of a message to more than one
mailbox Hold SHIFT key down while you
select Note OPTION key on Macs TRANSFER/
from menu, select mailbox

- Set a Priority Mark for yourself on a message
that youve already receivedThis is a quick way
to flag yourself that something is
important.ON PCltSelect the message you want
to set priority ongtFrom menu, select MESSAGE/
Change / Priority, select priority Or use
rightmouse click Priority/Status area, select
PriorityON MACltSelect the message you want to
set priority ongtHold mouse down on
Priority/Status column, select Priority

- Want to EDIT a mail message youve received to
eliminate unnecessary header information, etc.
within the message you want to save? While in
message, click the pencil icon (this places you
in Edit Mode), make your changes, then close out
of message or transfer it - Eudora will ask you
if you want to save changes, say YES.

- Have a LONG message you want to send via mail?
Use your word processing program to type it
!!Type message in your favorite word processing
program, save it out as a text file (FILE/Save
As, under File Type area, select Text
file)Then, go into Eudora and create a new mail
message. Send the file as an attachment
(Message/Attach File) OR Use FILE/Open
file will pull up--copy paste text from file
into a new message OR Copy
your text from the word processing program and
paste into Eudora mail message area

- Want to send a message to someone (or yourself)
at a later date? You can queue your message to
be sent at a specific date/time!!Create a new
mail messageOnce youre message if finished,
hold down the SHIFT key as you touch the SEND
button - this will bring up a dialog box where
you can identify when you want the message to be
sent - it will sit in your OUT mailbox until that
date/time. - This is a NEAT way to send yourself reminders of
important dates or things to do.

- Want to sort your messages in a different
order?With your messages listed, simply click
on any title above your messages to sort by
that heading - this sorts your message in
ascending order - hold the SHIFT key down and
click to get descending order

- Want to create skeleton messages that you can
send over and over again?Use the STATIONERY
feature in Eudora to create message - Go into a NEW MESSAGE (or an existing message)
- Type your message and any information re
Subject, etc. - FILE/Save As Stationery (extension will be .sta
for name) - This saves the file in a Stationery folder
- To USE the Stationery file and send it to
someone - Select TOOLS/Stationery (or click tab on left
window) - The stationery files appear where your mailbox
listing normally appears (to left of your screen) - Doubleclick on stationery file you want -
complete the message, etc., then click SEND
