What is the NTCS?

• The North Texas Communicators Subcommittee was
  originally created
• in 2003 under the name Regional Public
  Information Officers. The group decided
• to change the name to North Texas Communicators
  Subcommittee in
• February 2008. The group provides opportunities
  for people who are Public
• Information Officers, Communicators, or in
  Marketing or other related fields to meet,
• network and coordinate with others in our region.
  North Texas professionals from city and
• county government, public safety, schools,
  universities, hospitals, public health, and
  emergency
• management have been involved in the group.

Vision

• To become a cohesive regional communicators group
  that can provide accurate, authoritative
• and timely information to the public before,
  during and after any regional emergency.

Mission

• As a Subcommittee of the NCTCOG, the NTCS seeks
  to
• convey a unified regional image
• provide one regional message using many voices
  in times of crisis
• support partners working to protect the areas
  health, safety and property
• minimize misinformation and confusion
• provide accurate and timely information to the
  general public.

• OBJECTIVES
• Promote regional communication and coordination
  among communication professionals in the region.
• Provide educational and networking opportunities
  for NTCS members, to strengthen relationships and
  improve communication in the region.

• Prepare a Regional Emergency Public Information
  Plan (REPIP) that complements the North Central
  Texas Regional Catastrophic Plan and effectively
  coordinates regional information during a
  regional emergency.
• Prepare a Regional Joint Information Center (JIC)
  procedure manual that complements the REPIP and
  effectively coordinates regional information
  during a regional emergency.
