7What is Geospatial Information?
- Historically Geospatial Information was paper
- maps and charts and the information to
- provide precise coordinates
- Eventually these old products evolved
- into the digital maps, charts, and data bases
- we have been using for the past 20 years
- Now we are moving to an all digital world of
- maps and charts, data bases and imagery
- -- all of these are geospatial information
8NGAs Direction
- In 2000 NGA established the goal of an all
digital environment by 2010 - National Geospatial Transition Plan (GTP)
provides guidance to the Services - In 2002 AF/XO published AF GTP
- Implements National GTP
- Provides AF users with processes, architectures,
tools, and training to transition to the 2010
environment
9AF GTP Implementation
- Spiral 1 Mission planning and rehearsal support
(GPL) - Initiated 1 Jan 03 fielding complete NLT Summer
05 - Spiral 2 Precise positioning (GRIDLOCK/DPPDB)
- Adds data to support targeting
- Complete fielding summer 06
- Spiral 3 Automation of updates
- Replace manual updates with automated
synchronization - Complete FY 06
- Spiral 4 Foundation Data (FD)
- NGA FD concept still under development
Note Spiral development running concurrently

32Spiral 2 GRIDLOCK
- Autoregistration capability for tactical and NTM
sensors - Replace current manual image correlation process
with an automated machine-to-machine process - Automatically correlate tactical to reference
imagery in less than 1 minute (lt10 seconds
objective) - Provide commanders with actionable target
information by producing consistently accurate
target coordinates and error estimates - Minimize need for extensive and perishable
training by providing point-and-click
generation of aimpoints
33Spiral 2 DPPDB
- Developing DPPDB Server with increased data
management - Worldwide standardized database for Falconer AOC
DCGS - GPL like server CY05 target date for prototype
34Spiral 3 Automated GPL
- Execute automated updates synchronization via
network - GPLs mirror each other
- Low user interface
- Operates in a Network Centric environment
- Interfaces with NGA Databases

36NRO CENTAF EFFORT
- Migrating to Iraq Mega-Server for all things
imagery geospatial - Prototype GeoINT Server
- AF/XOIRY supplying technical support to AFCSO
NRO - Conducted site surveys at Camp Victory and Balad
- Ensuring GPL interoperability with Mega-Server
- Greater emphasis being placed on injecting data
into theater via Global Broadcast System (GBS)
GPL is foundation for GeoINT Server
37Summary
- Provides trusted data from single AF source480
IW - Proactive update mechanism guarantees
availability of latest data - Data is tailorable to unit/mission needs
- Data is directly useable on standard mission
planning systems - Expanding to support precise positioning
