13- May the words of my mouth and the meditation of
my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my
Rock and my Redeemer. - Psalm 1914
14Scripture Text
God's Way
- "Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron
gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock
before their eyes and it will pour out its water.
You will bring water out of the rock for the
community so they and their livestock can drink. - Num 208 NIV
15 Back Drop
God's Way
- Exodus 1524-25
- 24 So the people grumbled against Moses, saying,
"What are we to drink?" - 25 Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD
showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the
water, and the water became sweet. There the
LORD made a decree and a law for them, and there
he tested them. - Exodus 162
- 2 In the desert the whole community grumbled
against Moses and Aaron. - Exodus 172
- 2 So they quarreled with Moses and said, "Give us
water to drink." Moses replied, "Why do you
quarrel with me? Why do you put the LORD to the
test?" - Numbers 1110
- 10 Moses heard the people of every family
wailing, each at the entrance to his tent. The
LORD became exceedingly angry, and Moses was
troubled. - Numbers 143
- 3 Why is the LORD bringing us to this land only
to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and
children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn't it be
better for us to go back to Egypt
16 Christ the Rock
God's Way
- 1For I do not want you to be ignorant of the
fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all
under the cloud and that they all passed through
the sea. 2They were all baptized into Moses in
the cloud and in the sea. 3They all ate the same
spiritual food 4and drank the same spiritual
drink for they drank from the spiritual rock
that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. - 1 Cor 101-3 NIV
17 Christ the Rock
God's Way
- I will stand there before you by the rock at
Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out
of it for the people to drink." So Moses did this
in the sight of the elders of Israel. - Exodus 176 NIV
18Three Lessons
God's Way
19Three Lessons
God's Way
- God has a plan.
- There are consequences when we disobey God.
20God's Way
- 22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not
consumed, for his compassions never fail. - 23 They are new every morning great is your
faithfulness. - Lam 322-23
21 How We Disobey
God's Way
- 1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your
unfailing love according to your great
compassion blot out my transgressions. - 2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from
my sin. - 3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is
always before me - Psalm 511-3 NIV
22Justifying
God's Way
- How badly do we want what we desire?
- Can we find a loophole in God's commands?
- Do we know anyone we can use to justify our
choice? - What shortcomings can we focus on in order to
belittle on our critics? - How can we discredit God's Word so the admonition
disappears?
23God's Way
- 7Do not be deceived God cannot be mocked. A man
reaps what he sows. 8The one who sows to please
his sinful nature, from that nature will reap
destruction the one who sows to please the
Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life
Galatians 67-8 NIV
18 "Come now, let us reason together," says the
LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they
shall be as white as snow though they are red as
crimson, they shall be like wool. Isaiah
118 NIV

26 God Provided Again
God's Way
- Abraham and Isaac
- 13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he
saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and
took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt
offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called
that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day
it is said, "On the mountain of the LORD it will
be provided." - Gen 2213-14 NIV
- Jehovah Jireh
- The LORD will provide
27- I used to ask God if He would come and help
me. Then I asked if I could come and help Him.
Finally I ended by asking God to do His own work
through me. - J. Hudson Taylor
