• To study an innovative program for appropriate
  training and education in advanced minimally
  invasive surgery for surgeons and nurses of
  Alberta
• To improve access for patients of Alberta to
  advanced minimally invasive surgical management
  as standards of care evolve
• To guide the safe and appropriate application of
  advanced minimally invasive surgery for patients
  of Alberta

• Implementing Telementoring Phase of program at
  the most appropriate time
• Establishing sustainable commitment from mentors
  and trainees for duration of training process

Innovation / Significance

• Mentoring will facilitate the training of
  Alberta surgeons in advanced MIS and provide safe
  access for patients to standard of care MIS
  surgical procedures
• The telementoring application will provide the
  logistical feasibility for surgeons and their
  surgical team to participate without the need for
  constant traveling and sustained interruptions
