  • Building capacity within the Education Sports
    Forum (ESF) to support members working in the
    sports industry
  • Building a network of Sports unions within the
    ESF
  • Work with sports clubs to agree partnership
    approaches to learning and skills
  • Pilot early initiatives in the respective sports
    designated clubs.
  • Develop systems to support the training and
    development of Learner Reps

Specific Objectives
  • Training and education tailored to specific and
    unique needs of people working in the sports
    industry, e.g. players, mangers, coaches,
    administrators, ancillary workers
  • Putting in place a learning strategy to support
    ESF members to help them in their duties of
    providing front line advice to their individual
    members
  • Web site. Develop a Sports Forum web site to
    provide tailored information on education and
    training for ESF members and others working in
    the industry.

Developing Skills for Life
  • Skills for Life training for ESF members and
    others working in the industry
  • Working with trained Sports Learning Reps
    carrying out learning needs assessment of workers
  • Research existing schemes, e.g. drawing on
    current practice of model clubs who are working
    with, community and local businesses.

Future Development and Long Term Objectives
  • Developing clubs and gyms into places of
    learning thereby creating potential employment
    for ESF members
  • Address continuing professional development
    issues
  • Equipping sports forum members with transferable
    skills needed to obtain other jobs Dealing with
    Transition
  • Working with education providers developing
    affiliates own customised training programme that
    meets the needs of ESF members.

WORKING TOGETHER
  • Working together sharing good practice looking
    into existing learning schemes operating in clubs
    and gyms and agree how that might be replicated
    within in all sports
  • ESF as a coordinating body to research/audit
    other provision within the broader sports
    industry.
