4WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE VCE?(pg 6)
- To be awarded the VCE, you must satisfactorily
complete 16 units. - This is normally done across two years
- The 16 units must include at least 3 units from
the English group, including at least Unit 3 or 4 - Also included must be 3 other Unit 3 4 sequences
5What are the requirements for English? (pg 6)
- The minimum requirement is 3 Units from the
English group, with at least one at Unit 3 or 4
level - Possible combinations
6What is a Unit? (pg 6-7)
- A Unit is a Semester of work
- Units 1 2 are normally completed by students in
Year 11 - Units 3 4 are normally completed by students in
Year 12 - Students in Year 11 can complete a Unit 3 4
sequence after recommendations and approval is
given.

of a subject in Year 11?
- Students must meet the requirements of the
College in relation to - Completion of work Policy
- Promotions Policy

Year 10
8What are the benefits of studying a Unit 3 4 in
Year 11?
- Experience of the workload, SACs and exams (mid
year, end of year and GAT) - Broaden the subject base at Year 12
- Widen the selection of the best 4 subjects that
contribute to the calculation of the ENTER
9What is VET? (pg 10-19)
- VET Vocational Education Training
- Two year program with a Unit 1-4 structure
- Must commence a VET course at Unit 1
- A student can combine a VET course with VCE or
VCAL studies
10How do I enrol?
- You can collect an enrolment form tonight
- Another important form is the school commitment
form - Complete both of these forms
- Submit both to Ms Hunter by the end of August
11What other important information about VET do I
need to know?
- Attendance by the applying student his parent/s
at the Orientation session is COMPULSORY - Usually held in Mid October November
- If you do not attend, then you will be taken off
the VET Cluster enrolment list - VET courses have an additional levy of around
400 per year
12Other important VET information
- Once VET commences, students are committed for
the full year - If a student withdraws from VET prior to the end
of the year, they are required to pay the full
cost of the course. - As the College subsidises the course, the amount
could range between 500-1300.

- Students doing a VET subject travel independently
to other venues - Current venues are
- Sport Rec at Melbourne Girls College
- Multimedia at Hawthorn Sec College Princess
Hill - Hospitality at Princess Hill William Angliss

the Primary Four when calculating the ENTER

- Allows for additional pathways in Year 11 12

- SBNA School Based New Apprenticeship

externally. This can be done through - Victorian School of Languages
- Other accredited providers

- These unit outlines give an overview of the
content/themes that are covered in each unit. - It informs choice in terms of stating what is
covered in the units - It provides information from which questions may
be generated
22What is the sample planner? (pg 73)
- The sample planner allows draft programs to be
developed - These can then be brought to the interview to be
checked for requirements and suitable combination
of subject choice - Allows planning for the 2 year VCE program

24How do I fill in the Subject Selection form?
- Section 1 Results from Semester 1 Year 10,
including VELs ratings - Section 2 Program (subjects) that you wish to
apply for Units 1-4. This includes teacher's
signature of recommendation - Section 3 Course selection Support Information

25What should I consider when selecting a subject?
- Do I enjoy the subject?
- Am I good at the subject?
- Does it have a pathway to TAFE, University of the
workplace? - Do I have the motivation to excel in this
subject? - Is my program compatible with my future options?
- Am I being realistic with my selections?
