41Proper Curing
- Load boxes, racks barns uniformly, close air
leaks - Follow a proven curing schedule
- Use a web-bulb thermometer to minimize wasted
fuel from excessive fresh air intake, ESPECIALLY
WITH NEW HEATEXCHANGERS
42BARN LOADING
- 1) Fit racks snugly together
- 2) Block out space at doors
- 3) Run fan while loading hot tobacco
- 4) Dry surface of wet tobacco
43ASSURE AN AIR SEAL ROUND EACH RACK OR BOX
A ½ inch crack between boxes or racks reduces
ventilation efficiency by 50. Half of the air
goes through the rack or box and half goes
through the crack.
