- What do they look like?
- What are some examples of inventions and
equipment? - What are some interesting projects in a science
fair?
2- The following examples were selected to show
some of the interesting subjects chosen for
science projects, and to illustrate unique
aesthetic expression used by the finalist from
Nova Scotia and across Canada.
3- This student used stenciling and drawings as a
background for her information. The top of her
backboard immediately catches the viewers eye
and makes them want to learn more about the
project.
4- Lots of colour is used to create a rocket to show
the topic researched.
5- A graphic was created to indicate the theme of
this students work. The information is well laid
out and is welcoming for someone to read.
6- This student uses lots of colour to capture the
interest of viewers. The topic looks interesting
too!

background for this backboard.

11Project Subjects
- The most interesting projects were created by
students who were curious about finding an answer
to something they wanted to know. These students
had a real passion for their project and it
showed when you spoke to them about what they had
designed.
12- William, in grade 9, won a bronze medal at the
Canada Wide Science Fair for his invention of a
dragonfly that could hold computer and camera
equipment. This dragonfly could search in
buildings for trapped people after earthquakes or
other natural disasters. He is continuing to
work on his invention to make it even better. He
realizes it takes time and patience to make a
project he feels proud of.

By the way, this is about the effectiveness of
certain brands of sun block. Using chicken skin
as the sample, made this project realistic.
