    description of place, human-environment
    interaction, movement, and regions.

globe using imaginary lines of longitude and

  • Relative location tells where a place is in
    relation to other places.

    characteristics.
  • Physical characteristics include natural features
    like landforms, climate, and vegetation.
  • Human characteristics include where people live
and work, the languages they speak, heir customs
and beliefs, how they are governed , and how
their governed, and how their economy functions.

5
Human-Environment Interaction
  • Refers to how people use their environment, how
they have changed their environment, the
consequences of those changes, how people have
responded to changes in their environment.

6
Movement and Regions
  • Movement
  • Because places have different characteristics,
people, goods and ideas move between them.
  • There are two kinds of regions.
  • Formal Regions are sets of places with similar
    characteristics.
  • Functional Regions are places connected by
    movement.
