1
LUKEWARM AND LOVIN IT
2
A certain ruler asked him, "Good teacher, what
must I do to inherit eternal life?" "Why do you
call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is
goodexcept God alone. You know the commandments
'Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not
steal, do not give false testimony, honor your
father and mother.'"All these I have kept since I
was a boy," he said. Luke 1818-21 NIV
3
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You
still lack one thing. Sell everything you have
and give to the poor, and you will have treasure
in heaven. Then come, follow me." When he heard
this, he became very sad, because he was a man of
great wealth. Jesus looked at him and said, "How
hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of
God! Luke 1822-24 NIV
4
Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through
the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter
the kingdom of God." Those who heard this asked,
"Who then can be saved?" Jesus replied, "What is
impossible with men is possible with God. Luke
1825-27 NIV
5
Peter said to him, "We have left all we had to
follow you!" "I tell you the truth," Jesus said
to them, "no one who has left home or wife or
brothers or parents or children for the sake of
the kingdom of God will fail to receive many
times as much in this age and, in the age to
come, eternal life. Luke 1828-30 NIV
6
Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A
man was there by the name of Zacchaeus he was a
chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to
see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could
not, because of the crowd. So he ran ahead and
climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since
Jesus was coming that way. Luke 191-4 NIV
7
When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and
said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I
must stay at your house today." So he came down
at once and welcomed him gladly. All the people
saw this and began to mutter, "He has gone to be
the guest of a 'sinner.' Luke 195-7 NIV
8
But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord,
"Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my
possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated
anybody out of anything, I will pay back four
times the amount." Jesus said to him, "Today
salvation has come to this house, because this
man, too, is a son of Abraham. Luke 198-9 NIV
9
"To the angel of the church in Laodicea
writeThese are the words of the Amen, the
faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's
creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither
cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the
other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot
nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
Rev 314-16 NIV
10
You say, 'I am rich I have acquired wealth and
do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that
you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the
fire, so you can become rich and white clothes
to wear, so you can cover your shameful
nakedness and salve to put on your eyes, so you
can see. Rev 317-18 NIV
11
Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be
earnest, and repent. Rev 319 NIV
12
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If
anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will
come in and eat with him, and he with me. To him
who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with
me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down
with my Father on his throne. Rev 320-21 NIV
