2Starting educationAge 2-5 years old
- The first school for a large majority of
children from Poland is preschool. It is for
children who are from 3 to 5 years old. Sometimes
there are special groups for children who are 2
years old.
This stage is not obligatory but a lot of
parents want their children to go to preschool
because it provides good care and basic skills
for each child.
3Before schoolAge 6 years old
- Before going to school each child has to finish
one class which prepares them for further
education in school. During this classes children
learn how to write, read and count correctly.
From a few years it is obligatory for everyone.
4Learn PlayAge 2-5 years old
- In Great Britain Kindergardens arent obligatory.
- Here children can play with the others and learn
basic abilities which could be helpful in the
future.
5Primary SchoolAge 7 13 years old
Children in Poland go to school when they are 7
years old. Learning in Primary School is divided
into two peroids
- During the first years pupils learn writing,
counting, reading, singing and drawing with only
one teacher. - After, when children are 11 years old they start
to learn a variety of subjects such as history,
biology, computer science or foreign language. -
6First examAge 13 years old
- In the last class of Primary School students
have to write an exam. It tests their skills
before further studying. They usually have to
answer some questions about the article, give a
result of a few math tasks and write a short
story or an essay.
7Infant schoolAge 5-8 years old
- Children from Great Britain start their
education when they are 5 years old (sometimes 4
years old). The first stage is Infant school for
children from 5 to 8 years old. When they are 7
years old they write their first exam.
8Junior schoolAge 8-11 years old
- It is the second stage of primary education in
Great Britain. In this kind of school they have
got lesson of 10 subjects such as English, Maths,
History, Science etc. - Students finish school with an exam when they
are 11 years old but it isnt the end of
obligatory education
9GimnazjumAge 13-16 years old
- Gimnazjum is the second stage of education
system in Poland. There are three classes in this
kind of school. There are eleven subjects which
are necessary to continue education in the
future. Students have about 30 lessons a week.
The school ends with an important exam. It is the
last stage of obligatory education in Poland.
10The second examAge 16 years old
- It is a very important exam for Polish students.
They write it when they are 16 years old. The
exam tests their skills from a variety of
subjects such as Polish, Maths, Biology, Science,
Art. There are 2 parts of this exam. For young
people it is very important because its result
decides about their further education.
11Secondary SchoolAge 11-16 years old
After a few years of learning in Primary School
students have to continue their education in High
(Secondary) School. It is obligatory for
everyone.
- After it students can leave school and go to
work or continue learning.
12The last examsAge 11 and 16 years old
- There are two exams
- SAT at the age of 13, which finishes the third
part of education process - GCSE at the end of this education level which
allows to continue learning or go to work
13Further educationAge 16-19 years old
14CollegeAge above 16 years old
- After passing GCSE exam students can continue
learning in College. There are two exams at this
stage. The last one allows to start education at
University or start professional education needed
for work. Instead of College people can start
vocational education.
- A - LEVEL EXAM
- It is the exam which finishes College and allows
to start further education such as GNAV, - B-tech, NVQ or higher education.
15Maturity examAge 19 years old
- Maturity exam is the most important test for a
large majority of Polish people. Their future
life depends on its result. Students have to
write an exam from 3 obligatory subjects Polish,
Maths and a foreign language. They also have to
choose additional subjects to write. It finishes
the second stage of education and isnt
obligatory.
16Higher educationAge above 18 years old
- Polish education system offers a variety of types
of studies. - The most important are
- vocational courses
- complementary courses for holders of professional
titles, the graduates obtain the title of
magister or equivalent - PhD studies - graduates obtain the academic degree
