Title: Project details

1
Project details
  • Choose a real location
  • Who could benefit from a Smart-Its based system
    at this location?
  • What could be supported with Smart-Its at this
    location?
  • Do a small-scale observation, interview or focus
group to get information about the potential
    user, task and context
  • Motivation for choosing a particular data
    gathering method?
  • Describe how you performed this, e.g. what
questions you asked, what you observed
  • Investigate and describe the important actions
    that happens in that location

2
Project details
  • Do a small user, task and context analysis. That
is we want you to answer questions such as
  • Who are the potential users? E.g. are they mobile
travellers at the train station or are they
    working there?
  • Do you want to support an already existing task
or design a new application? What does the task
involve? E.g. the traveller enters the station,
picks up or buy his/her ticket, checks
    information, buy news magazine
  • What defines the context? E.g. the train station
is heterogeneous waiting area, stores, it has a
    large flow of people passing

3
Project details
  • Make a design proposal based on the technical
requirements and what you know about the user,
    task and context
  • Technical requirement Use at least two of the
standard five sensors in Smart-Its and at least
three objects should exchange data between each
    other
  • How the product can be implemented using
    Smart-Its
  • Overall structure instead of focusing on details,
    e.g. looks of interface

4
Project details
  • We also want you to evaluate your design proposal
    to get feedback
  • In order to do that, you need to find a way to
communicate/describe the idea to the people
    involved in the evaluation
  • Functionality and interaction can be described in
    e.g. a
  • Paper prototype
  • Scenario

5
Project details
  • The evaluation is optimally done with real
    potential user
  • However, for this project, engaging other people
can also give you valuable feedback
  • Feedback on concept, technology, functionality..
  • Most important is to get relevant, objective
    feedback!
  • Describe in the report how you evaluated your
prototype and what comments you got

6
Report details
  • Product concept (ca. 1 paragraph)
  • Analysis of the area (ca. 1 page)
  • Design process (ca. 2 pages)
  • How the product can be implemented
    usingSmart-Its (ca. 2 pages)
  • Business plan (ca. 1 page)
  • Ca. 6 pages with illustrations
