    regionally

ESM Requirements
  • Comply with applicable regulations-federal, state
    and local.
  • Licensed by applicable entities (Metropolitan
    Area).
  • No prison labor.
  • 1 million liability insurance.
  • Recyclers must certify compliance.
  • Manufacturers must do due diligence.

  • 59 Manufacturers (VDDs) sold to households with
    over 111 brands.
  • Reports and fees still coming in to DOR
  • Some penalties have been collected
  • Details of specific companies and which paid
    penalties is not public information

Source of OEM Recycled Pounds
  • Directly from Recyclers under contract (SONY/WM,
    Samsung/Jacks Family Recycling etc.)
  • By working together with other OEMs to purchase
    en mass and divide (MRM)
  • By submitting bids on offered recycled pounds
  • Through contracts with local recyclers
  • Through the NCER Online clearinghouse (very few)

  • Notification of RoHS compliance status.
  • Sales and recycling from households, not business
    or institutional sources.
  • Track, for auditing purposes, the source of
    materials recycled.
