Kaiser Permanente has been in Oakland for over 60
years.
The Oakland Medical Center provides care to
186,000 members.
Over 4,000 people work at the medical center
today.
The hospital must be replaced to comply with
State law.

• In 2005, Kaiser funded 72 agencies for a variety
  of projects that support the Oakland Medical
  Center community benefit priorities, such as
• Decrease rates of childhood obesity.
• Improve management of childhood asthma.
• Improve mental health status and services
• Decrease substance abuse.
• Decrease the number and rate of teen births.
• Improve prevention and management of adult
  chronic conditions.

In 2005, Kaiser Permanente joined the Bill and
Melinda Gates Foundation in providing 1 million
dollars to support the Oakland Unified School
District.
Oakland was the first medical center to offer a
year-round Farmers Market selling organic
produce beginning in May 2004.
The Oakland Medical Centers Community Health
Education Program is designed to improve
community health through a variety of health
education programs and services.

The proposed project represents the future of
healthcare
and Kaiser Permanentes future in Oakland.
The design of the facility is the result of
extensive research on what makes a state-of-the
art medical facility.

The Kaiser has developed an ideal hospital for
its medical facilities. The ideal
hospital is typically located on a 50 acre site.
