Title: OVERCOMING TEMPTATIONS 1 Corinthians 10:13
1OVERCOMING TEMPTATIONS1 Corinthians 1013
2- Temptations are a fact of life.
- Temptation is not sin Giving in is sin.
- Sin can destroy your relationship with God.
31 John 15-6 This is the message we have heard
from him and declare to you God is light in him
there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have
fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we
lie and do not live by the truth.
4- Sin can short-circuit Gods blessings into your
life. - Sin can destroy Gods anointing in your life.
- Isaiah 591-2 Behold, the LORD's hand is not
shortened, that it cannot save neither his ear
heavy, that it cannot hear But your iniquities
have separated between you and your God, and your
sins have hid his face from you, that he will not
hear.
5- Continual sin allows Satan to have a hold in your
life. - Ephesians 425-27 Therefore each of you must put
off falsehood and speak truthfully to his
neighbor, for we are all members of one body. "In
your anger do not sin" Do not let the sun go
down while you are still angry, and do not give
the devil a foothold.
6Face the facts about yourself. (1 John 15-9 )
7Face the facts about your ancestry.
(Rom.512,19 Jer.179 Ps.515 )
- Jeremiah 179 The heart is deceitful above all
things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? - Psalm 515 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful
from the time my mother conceived me.
8Forgive yourself as God has forgiven you. (1John
19 Rom.81 )
- Romans 81-2
- There is therefore now no condemnation to those
who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk
according to the flesh, but according to the
Spirit.
9Dont pass the buck. (James 113-15 )
- James 113-15 When tempted, no one should say,
"God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted
by evil, nor does he tempt anyone but each one
is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is
dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has
conceived, it gives birth to sin and sin, when
it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
10Keep clear of the lions mouth. (1 Peter 58)
11Get your spiritual buddy(s) to hold you
accountable. (Eccl.49-10 Heb.312-13)
- Hebrews 312-13 See to it, brothers, that none of
you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns
away from the living God. 13 But encourage one
another daily, as long as it is called Today, so
that none of you may be hardened by sin's
deceitfulness.
12Submit every area of your life to God. (James 47
)
