Title: Hedgehog Boys Small Group
1Hedgehog Boys Small Group
- Our Tuesday Morning Adventures
2How We Begin Each Week..
3Our First Few Weeks.
- In the beginning, we met with Joe, Casey, Leila,
and Hannah from Room 6 to share ideas about our
upcoming squirrel house. - We loved Griffins idea of adding a loft!
- Students shared drawings on the ELMO which
projected them onto a larger screen. - Introduced Kid Pix- a computer program that
demonstrates use of drawing tools and textures.

5Oh, the Technology
6- After introducing this computer program, we found
it easier to split the group into two halves to
generate ideas - One group worked with a variety of building
materials while the others worked with Kid Pix in
Room 6. Then, they switched places for a new
experience!
7Leila decided to build a house that was different
than her original drawing after thinking more
deeply.
Christopher decided to build his house wide
instead of tall like some of the others!
8If we make this one, there will be more room.
Whos helping me? -Joshua
Tyriq added icicles to his house!
9The boys discovered a book of pictures/creations
that could be constructed using a set of blocks.
The structure would get top heavy and topple over
but the boys kept trying!
10Putting Our Ideas into Action.
- Mr. Fisher and his wife, Colleen, dedicated much
time and effort in order to help us build a bird
house step two in our building phase. - They were able to construct them in the college
classroom and later painted them!

14Our Finished Products
15- We fed the squirrels our leftover Wendys food
from the field trip - We had a brief stakeout in Room 8 to see if the
food appealed to them! - Our trail began at the dumpster
- behind the CDC and ended at the Squirrel Café on
the playground.
16Our Journey
17- We explored with Golly Gee Blocks, a
3-Dimensional building computer program - We also posed questions to ask Dr. Sam Mazzer,
retired professor of biology at Kent State
