Administration Support and Leadership
  • District wide program supported from top down -
    Begins with District Superintendent
  • SHS Principal believes in the program and is a
    main supporter of the program.
  • SHS Principal is an active member of PBS Team
  • SHS Principal prioritized time to allow for staff
    training
  • (Friday Meetings PBS has one hour, if needed
    for instruction and concerns)
  • SHS Principal allowed for activity schedule for
    student training / lessons

Dedicated PBS Team
  • Six team members- Principal, three Teachers,
    Evaluation Specialist, Librarian
  • Team meets every Wednesday to take action on
    agenda items
  • Team develops lessons for guide groups and
    reviews lessons at staff meetings
  • Team sets up calendar of events and presents to
    staff for discussion and implementation
  • Team collects data from staff to see where we
    need to adjust lessons or focus efforts
  • Teams Monitors and supplies rewards system, fund
    raisers etc.

Staff Buy In, Support, and Instruction
  • Administration has let staff know the program is
    here to stay, and they are required to teach
    lessons during guide group.
  • Staff must be consistent with expectations of
    students, and provide reinforcements for meeting
    expectations.
  • Staff is willing to give input or concerns every
    Friday, they know the PBS teams will adjust.
  • Vice Principal systematically manages students
    that are not meeting expectations.
  • Staff is given a lesson plan and calendar every
    week for guide groups.

Leadership Class
  • Leadership students must go through screening
    process for class
  • Leadership students design PBS posters and PBS
    competitions
  • Leadership students collect feedback and act as
    role models
  • Leadership studnets are required to remind
    students of PBS rules
  • Leadership students reports back to PBS team
    though instructor

Guide Groups
  • Every teacher is assigned about 25 students and
    meet twice a week for 30 minutes
  • Guide groups consist of mixed grade level for
    peer support and tutoring
  • Guide groups go over PBS lessons and any other
    school related issues
  • On days guide groups have a short lesson or no
    lessons, students use it as a study hall.
  • School assemblies usually take place during this
    period.

Reward System for Positive Behavior
  • Teachers are encouraged to hand out reward
    tickets to students for following PBS guidelines.
  • Students turn tickets into student center and
    drawings are held once a day, once a week, and
    once a month.
  • Daily rewards are small items, weekly items a bit
    larger.
  • Monthly reward assembly has several small prizes,
    medium prizes, and a couple of large items.

  • Allow time for adjustment period for staff and
    students.
  • Be willing to adjust, Be Flexible
  • Listen to staff and students.
  • Focus on a few behaviors before moving on.
  • If something isnt working change it.
