8Agenda Items
9- New Training Hypothesis development
- Identify Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes (KSA)
necessary - for pilots to operate safely, efficiently and
effectively - Quantify observable means by which to assess the
demonstrations - of KSA
- Conduct a safety threat analysis
- Determine priorities for training and
checking in each flight phase - Based on a review of what should be trained,
determine best - methodologies for the efficient delivery of pilot
KSA - (ITQI Report Spring 09)
10Conclusions If we fail to make a substantial
change to the philosophy of airline pilot
training, we will face an increasing gap between
training and reality. It is time to create an
effective bridge between safety data and the
development of training solutions. At the same
time, we must embed robust methodologies for the
handling of real events and the development of
key pilot skills, both technical and
non-technical, into those training
solutions. (ITQI Report Spring 09)
11Conclusion
- Coherent, operationally-focussed
- Does require investment
- Probably already off course
- Best practice
