• Deal with the Southeast effect
• higher than average incomes, higher cost of
  living but national income assessment for
  Government Grant
• Total cost (with outreach investment and
  administration) to be 25 of additional income
  stream
• Keep it simple!

Bursary Scheme for 2006/07 for Home Undergraduates

• The Scheme in a Nut Shell
• Students will receive 3k financial support
• where family income is below 25k
• Financial support means combined Government Grant
  Essex Bursary
• Minimum family income (at 25k) is 40 higher
  than the Government grant level (at 17.5k)

• The Small Print
• EU students do not qualify
• Essex Bursaries under 500, payable in February
• Essex Bursaries over 500, payable in 2 equal
  instalments in February and May
• Essex will be using the SLC full administration
  service to administer the scheme
• Bursaries will be paid into student bank accounts
  via the SLC NO alternative options will be
  offered
