Title: Ever had one of THOSE days
1Ever had one of THOSE days?
2Dont you love it when your cat brings you
presents?
3Two Chicks and a Cat
4Whatchu looking at?
5Are you ready to begin?Im sure you have some
questions like
6How do I begin?
- The first thing you need to do is to sketch a
front and back view of 3 possible sculptures you
would like to create. - Then you need to think about what you will use to
make your creation beginning with the armature.
7What is an Armature?
- An armature is a base made of wire, cardboard,
sticks or found objects that is used for support. - Think of it as the skeleton for your sculpture.
Without a skeleton, we would collapse into a mass
of muscle, tendons, and fluids. Without an
armature, your project will collapse as well.
8Okay, you have a design, now you need an armature
9After your armature is strong and all
weight-bearing areas have been reinforced, you
are ready to apply your first layer of newspaper
using a paste mixture. You will need to smooth
out the surface as you go.
10After your first layer of newspaper has been
applied and all areas of the armature have been
covered, its time for another layer, but this
time use brown paper instead of newspaper
11You will need to these steps over several times,
alternating between newspaper and brown paper,
until you have at least 6 complete layers and you
have made the surface as smooth as possible.
12After you have all layers complete, allow the
surface of your project to dry completely.
13When dry, cover your project with white, gray or
beige paint and allow to dry. If you can still
see through the paint, cover it again and let it
dry thoroughly.
14Check for holes and weak areas and, if you have
any, fix them at this time. Also, if you have
forgotten something or just wish to add
additional parts,NOW, is the time!When
additional parts are completed, put a primer coat
on the added areas and let it dry.
15When you are satisfied with your projects
construction and have put at least one coat of
primer on it, you may begin to paint details in
to complete your design.
16When the final paint coat is dry, you may glue on
other things to compliment the project if you
like.
You may choose to glue feathers, cloth, fur,
wiggle eyes, fake nails or other props to make
your project a success!
17Salamanders are great, but they wont save you
any money on car insurance!
