- Dinosaurs were reptiles, like an iguana.
- They had scaly skin.
- They had long legs tucked under their bodies,
which meant that they could move efficiently.
5What size were they?
Dinosaurs came in all sizes. Many of them were
gigantic, and some were no larger than a chicken.
6What did they eat?
- Some dinosaurs ate only plants--they were called
plant-eaters,or - herbivores.
- Other dinosaurs ate animals--they are known as
meat-eaters, or carnivores.
7How were they born?
Dinosaurs were reptiles and most hatched from
eggs. No dinosaurs could fly and none lived in
the water.
8What happened to the dinosaurs?
The dinosaurs went extinct about 65 million years
ago, at the end of the Cretaceous period, which
was a time of high volcanic and tectonic
activity. There are a lot of theories why the
extinction occurred. The most widely accepted
theory is that an asteroid impact caused major
climactic changes to which the dinosaurs couldn't
adapt.
