• When Dan was one year old his family moved to
  Newark, New Jersey, where he grew up.
• He attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick,
  New Jersey, graduating in 1977 with a degree in
  psychology.
• He moved to New York City in 1980 and began
  writing "humorous essays.
• In 1982 he started a video games magazine called
  Video Games Player.
• In 1985 he became a free-lance writer.
• In 1994 he wrote his first fiction novel, They
  Came From Centerfield.

  desk.
• He received hundreds of rejection letters from
  publishers before his first books were published.
• He wrote Honus and Me in 1993. It was rejected
  by SEVEN different publishers (some more than
  once) before it was finally published in 1997.
• He thinks the best thing about writing is the
  freedom! He doesnt have a boss, he doesnt
  have to go to an office, and he doesnt have to
  wear a coat and tie!
• He likes to take an ordinary kid and put that kid
  into an extraordinary situation.
