Chapter Background
  • BEA is a non-profit, student-run chapter of the
    National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).
  • Founded in 1972 to benefit all Black and other
    minority students on the UC Davis campus
    regardless of major.

NSBE
  • NSBE was Founded in 1975 at Purdue University
  • NSBE's mission is to increase the number of
    culturally responsible Black engineers who excel
    academically, succeed professionally and
    positively impact the community.
  • NSBE is comprised of more than 270 chapters on
    college and university campuses, 75 Alumni
    Extension chapters nationwide and 75 Pre-College
    chapters. These chapters are geographically
    divided into six regions.

Objectives
  • To develop and stimulate student interest in
    studying the various disciplines of engineering
    on both the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • To promote various types of retention programs,
    thereby placing our main emphasis on education
    and stability
  • To equip students to become role models for youth
    in their pursuit of careers in the engineering
    field.
  • To promote public awareness of engineering
    opportunities for people of color in this
    profession
  • To function as a representative body for issues
    and developments that affect the careers of Black
    engineers
