What is Bipolar II Disorder?
  • Manic Depression
  • A brain disorder that causes extreme shifts in

Diagnosis
  • An assessment is given to determine if the
    patient has mildly manic episodes alternating
    with major depressive episodes
  • This can be done within of a couple hours

  • Medication
  • 3 classes- Mood Stabilizers, Antipsychotics and
    Antidepressants (used with caution)
  • Antipsychotics- may have mood stabilizing
    properties
  • Antiepileptics- are a type of mood stabilizer
