consider public concerns and incorporate into
design - Most recent meeting April 4, 2005
- Town Council sub-committee receives project
updates - New website on Apple Valley Road and other
projects in Town
www.applevalleyprojectfiles.com
17Key Issues in Phase 2 Road Width
- Total ROW 82 feet on average (wider at signals)
- Curb-to-Curb 72 feet on average
18Typical Cross Section for Phase 2
19Key Issues Split Grade/Solid Median
- Allows road elements to be squeezed into 82
feet - Minimizes grading on adjacent land
- Improves safety by eliminating conflicting
traffic movements - Landscaped median provides visual friction
which will tend to slow traffic
20Key Issues - Noise
- Noise studies will determine effect of THIS
PROJECT on noise levels - Site-based readings will establish base line
noise levels today - Projections of increases will determine
mitigation measures
21Key Issues Right of Way
- Appraisers will contact individual homeowners
- Walls, landscaping, and driveways will be
factored in - Property owners may dispute appraisals and obtain
a second opinion - If no agreement between owner and Town, a court
will determine fair compensation
22Key Issues Speed Limit
- Speed limit is set at the 85th percentile of the
latest speed survey - Traffic signals and visual friction may affect
traffic speed - A new speed study will be conducted after
improvements are complete
