    and consistent within a justice reform model

GCDVIR Planning Day 2008 The GCDVIR conducts
an annual planning day, setting achievable
priorities for the year ahead.

  • GCDVIR Priorities for 2008
  • High Risk DV Case Management Process be developed
    by a Sub Committee of GCDVIR
  • Specialist DV Court for the Gold Coast Region at
    Southport Court
  • Assisting the Gold Coast Regions Department of
    Child Safety staff to facilitate a mandated
    attendance for male perpetrators of DV to a Mens
    DV Education and Intervention Program.

  • 13,425 Contacts with women
  • 5,288 Contacts with children
  • 1,788 Contacts with men
  • In Southport Court the busiest in the State there
    were
  • 5,296 new applications, protection orders,
    temporary orders, and applications to vary
  • QPS DV Callouts January December 2007
  • 1,951 DV callouts by Police
  • The High Risk Intervention Program
  • 49 High Risk Situations where women and their
    children were at risk of homicide in the first 2
    months of 2008

  • Therapeutic Jurisprudence
  • Chief Justice Marshall Irwin on his visit to the
    Gold Coast in May 2007 that the
  • concept and establishment of a Specialist Court
    in Queensland is in the best
  • interests of the entire community.
  • Chief Justice Irwin stated
  • The fact is that the evaluation of the
    specialist court programs to which reference has
    been
  • made have found positive outcomes overall to
    victims, including satisfaction with the process
  • and reduced acts of domestic and family violence
    .
  • Integrated case management
  • Collaboration and cooperation by services to
    receive referrals, case management
  • on both entry and exit , pro investigation and
    pro prosecution of DV matters and bail
  • determination , bail conditions and protection
    orders that focus on the safety of
  • victims and their children.
