  • 24 Tutors
  • Strong academic and interpersonal skills
  • Range in age from 17-54
  • Come from different fields of study
  • Have a sincere interest in helping others

Tutor Requirements
  • maintain 2.5 gpa
  • qualify for a Pell Grant
  • meet background screening requirements
  • complete a 16 hour training class
  • demonstrate a strong commitment to serve the
    community
  • Have reliable transportation

Tutoring- Community Wide
  • Over 200 students have received tutoring
  • 7 locations in Bay Co.
  • In-school after-school programs
  • Schools, community centers recreation centers
    in Bay Co.

Tutoring Locations Schedules
  • Jinks Middle School
  • Mowat Middle school
  • Rosenwald Middle school
  • MLK Community Center
  • ASAP for Children
  • Bay BASE programs
  • Rotating times for during school tutoring at
    Jinks Rosenwald.
  • After-school meets between 300-430
    Monday-Thursday
  • Afternoon hours at the Community Centers Bay
    BASE

What do work-study tutors do?
  • Work in supervised classrooms
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring
  • Develop basic math reading skills
  • Model organizational learning skills /mentoring

Summer Tutoring
  • ESOL English Language Exploration at GCCC
  • One month day camp for ESOL students
  • Tutors work with students from many different
    countries receive specialized training
