  • Before you can begin something new you have to
    end what used to be.
  • You need to identify who is losing what, expect a
    reaction and acknowledge the losses openly.
  • Repeat information about what is changing, it
    will take time to sink in.
  • Mark the endings

Beginnings
  • Four key elements help people make a new
    beginning
  • The purpose behind the change
  • A picture of how the change will look
  • A plan to get there
  • A part to play in the outcome.
  • The new beginning can be made when people feel
    they can make the emotional commitment to doing
    something in a new way.

Neutral Zone
  • People feel disoriented, anxiety rises, consensus
    breaks down.
  • It can be a creative time as the old moves
    away, before the new becomes entrenched it is a
    good time to be flexible.
  • This time needs different rules and different
    ways of working.

  • Acknowledge the plagues help people realise the
    need for change.
  • Exodus 7-11 (Blood, Frogs, Gnats, Flies,
    Livestock, Boils, Hail, Locusts, Darkness,
    Firstborn
  • Mark the endings take the important things with
    you but dont hang on to too much of the past
  • Exodus 12 the Passover

    leaders in place to hear peoples concerns.

    of working dont need to be followed be creative
    and open to alternatives.
  • Exodus 20 23, most of Leviticus the 10
    commandments and other rules for a large
    community in a new place to live by.
  • Resist the urge to rush ahead you can slow
    things down if you wish (although dont take 40
    years!)

    relevant in someones circuit, or use one of the
    examples given.

  • how can you address that?
  • how will you mark the ending?

  • Using the same scenarios as the endings phase
    discuss the transition period
  • how will you give access to the leaders during
    this time?
  • what opportunities will you take to encourage
    creative thought as to changes that could be
    made?
  • how long do you expect people to be in transition?
