- Preservation/IT staff record the titles added to
the system in Frances database - LTS staff access the database to learn what new
titles have been added - LTS staff search Voyager to identify records for
new titles
3Changing the MARC record (1)
- Copy the record for the print title and make the
following changes to the MARC records - Update ISBD punctuation (most of the records for
titles in HEARTH were created using old catalog
rules) - Add fixed fields
- 006 computer file
- 007 electronic resource (OCLC/DLF standards)
- Add 245 h electronic resource
- Add 440 series heading

- 5XX fields
- 538 note about Internet access
- 538 note about how the files of the digital copy
were created - 500 note about who funded the digitization
- 533 note about who created the electronic
reproduction (Cornell and Trigonix) - 516 note about type of file
- Electronic resource fields
- 776 to link print, microfilm and electronic
record together - 856 with URL and PURL we maintain the URL in the
PURL server only, not in the bib record. - 899 electronic resource code that we add to all

6Saving the bib record and updating the database
- Save the new record for the electronic version
of the title and add the bib id to Frances
database

- Frances pulls the following information from the

8Making the metadata available
- Records are exported to OCLC and we are working
on making files of records available on the CHLA
and HEARTH web sites.
