THE LANDWEBER CONNECTIVITY MAP
  • A Map earlier used to indicate the state of
    connectivity of each country to the Internet.

  • Nigeria appeared continuously on the map has
    having UUCP connection to the Internet until 1996
    when the first IP connection to the Internet was
    setup in the country.
  • Landwebber Map was discontinued when almost all
    countries got IP link to the Internet.

SUMMARY
  • There is a great improvement in Internet
    diffusion within the last one year
  • The Policy environment is getting better.
  • NITEL is becoming more cooperative. E1 is now
    being approved for ISPs.
  • Awareness is growing.
  • Licensing for cybercafe by NCC is no more
    required.
  • Enthusiasm about Internet is growing and Nigeria
    is poised to take its rightful place on the
    Internet.
