What is ARCC?
  • Accountability Reporting for the Community
Colleges (ARCC) established by AB 1417 (Pacheco)
  • Consists of 7 college level indicators of
    effectiveness
  • Very public data second year of reporting

4
What are the indicators?
  • Student progress and achievement (degrees,
    transfers, etc.)
  • Percentage of students who earn at least 30 units
  • Persistence rate (fall to fall)
  • Annual successful course completion rate for
    credit vocational courses (A,B,C, CR)
  • Annual successful course completion rate for
    basic skills courses (A,B,C,CR)
  • Improvement rate for credit basic skills courses
  • Credit ESL improvement rate

Peer group construction
  • First, regression equations were constructed,
using variables out of the control of colleges,
to predict performance on each indicator
  • Second, colleges were clustered into peer
groups based upon their similarities in the array
of significant predictors for each indicator
  • Because each indicator has a different set of
significant predictor variables, a different peer
    group exists for each variable.

12
How do we compare to our peer groups?
13
Whats next?
  • Each college is required to respond to the final
    report
  • Each college must submit a copy of board minutes
showing the interaction with the report
  • Questions?
