Title: HarvestVant
1HarvestVant
- ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY FOR PRE-HARVEST TREATMENT
2HARVESTVANT
- Pre-Harvest treatment for weakening the FRF
(Fruit Retention Force) and improving mechanical
harvesting efficiency and economics. Enhances
Olive harvest process by increasing the harvested
yield (dropped fruits), while shortening the
harvest process and reducing the required labor - HarvestVant reduces trees damage
3BACKGROUND
- Harvesting Olives has become the main expense in
growing olives for Table or for Olive Oil (40
60 of the turnover). - Some of the growers are using Ethrel.
- Ethrel is a plant growth regulator that releases
ethylene and weaken the stalk of the fruit.
However the use of Ethrel is not widespread
because of its over-aggressive activity (shedding
of leaves), a high user price (high volume) and
the high concentration of an active hormonal
substance in the finished solution.
- Rotem Amfert Negev/Agrovant has developed the
HarvestVant - a new formulation that offers a
solution to the problem. - The HarvestVant increases the efficacy of
mechanical harvesting while maintains a minimal
damage to the shoot . The percentage of the
active ingredient, ethephon in the formulation is
lower compared to Ethrel
4HARVESTVANT APPLICATION
- For the Olive crop
- Spray the HarvestVant 5-14 days prior to harvest,
based on the FRF (Fruit Retention Force). The
FRF should be 200-300 gr/fruit of Olive at
harvesting, for efficient shaking results. - Doses Spray Volume
- There is a positive correlation with the
temperature levels - The optimum temperature is 60 86F, the minimum
temperature needed is 55F - For Oil Olive rate is 3 in the spray solution.
- Table-Olive and early season harvesting 4
- Full foliage cover is required. Spray in volume
of 150-200 gal/Acre or 1-2 gal/tree - Remarks
- - Do not spray under rainy conditions. It may
slow or even stop the physiological process - - Do not spray under stress conditions, either
draught or frost - - Do no leave product in the sprayer for over 6
hours or overnight - - Keep in Normal conditions

7HARVESVANT IS COST EFFECTIVE
- The use of HarvestVant could save cost and labor
(based on 400 acres) - HarvestVant could save 75,000 and the need for
120 employees - compared to hand picking. - HarvestVant could save 20,000 and the need for
25 employees - compare to machanical picking. - By dropping most of the olives we can minimize
the loss of olives and save money

9HARVESTVANT REDUCES THE FRF
In these trials the effect of HarvestVant was
measured in Fruit Retention Force (FRF) The
mass (in Kilograms) needed to detach one olive
fruit from its branch

17SUMMARY
- - Most of the trials were conducted in harsh
climatic conditions (rain and cold). - - In all the work carried out, HarvestVant has
shown no - Damage to the shoot and caused insignificant
shedding of leaves contrary to the Ethrel
compositions that caused severe shedding of the
leaves. - - Harvest-Vant was found to be effective in
weakening the grip of the fruit and improving
efficacy of mechanical shaking by mean ofa.
Shortening the duration of the harvest. b.
Savings in manpower.c. Reducing wastage.
