Water
  • A big problem in Raichur City.
  • Water supply at 90 lpcd against standard of 135
    lpcd.
  • Water shortage acute in summer months.
  • Water is inadequately treated by authorities
    before supply
  • Water supply lines are old and broken

  • Ground water not potable
  • Maximum reported diseases in the city are water
    borne

Solid Waste
  • Raichur city generates 45 tons of solid waste per
    day.
  • Due to inadequate collection and transport
    infrastructure less than 50 of waste generated
    is collected.
  • The city has no designated sanitary landfill
    sites yet.
  • Major disposal of waste is by open dumping of
    solid waste in empty sites and tank beds.
  • A very serious health hazard.
  • Municipalitys number one priority area but
    unable to improve due to lack of resources.

Electricity
  • RTPS , 20 km away, provides power to the city
    via 220 kV transmission line
  • Environmental impact of the fly ash and air
    pollution from RTPS is high.
  • Limitations of the 220 kV line constrains load
    to 150 MW. There is no backup.
  • 40 of the electricity is wasted due to TD loss
    and theft Very high losses
  • Raichur City consumes 8 Million Units per month
    quite low comparatively.
  • Very high ratio of Low Tension to High Tension
    consumers high TD loss
  • Power for a higher level of Industrialization
    exists, but not utilized.
  • Possibility of integrating solar technology is
    high in Raichur City.
