Fire Ant Bait
The fourth instar larva is the only fire ant
stage able to feed on digest solid food. It
must process the bait before the insecticide can
be fed to the queen the rest of the colony.
The ants do the work for you the bait particles
are collected by worker ants carried back to
the colony.
Baits are slower to work than contact
insecticides due to how solid food is utilized by
fire ants.

• Tips for getting the most from your fire ant
  baits
• Do not buy more bait than you can use in 1 year.
  
• Store baits in a cool, dry place away from
  volatile chemicals.
• Do NOT disturb the fire ant mounds before you
  apply the bait.
• Read follow label directions.
• Apply baits when ants are foraging (when soil
  temperatures are 70 - 85 F). In summer, apply
  baits in the late afternoon or evening.
• Apply baits when conditions are dry no rain is
  expected for at least 8 hrs.

Remember This is a management program
continue your baiting program the following year
whether you have fire ants or not.
