  quantities iron, chlorine, copper,
  manganese, zinc, molybdenum, boron, nickel

III. Special Adaptations

• A. symbiotic nitrogen fixing bacteria - Some
  plants (especially legumes) house bacteria
  (legumes house Rhizobium )in nodules on their
  roots. The relationship is mutualistic.
• B. mycorrhizae - modified roots consisting of
  a mutualistic symbiotic relationship between
  plants and fungi which increase absorption

• C. parasitism - Some plants derive all or some
  of their nutrition by tapping into the vascular
  tissue of another species of plant.
• D. carnivorous plants - Some plants that live
  in nitrogen poor soil fortify their diets by
  digesting insects.
