Purpose of Supervised By

• The Supervisor Process in Banner HR/Payroll is
  intended to provide a central repository of
  information on direct supervisors within the
  Banner ERP system at the University of New Mexico
• Currently, separate supervisor information is
  maintained in
• Learning Central
• Performance Reviews
• Banner Authorization Request Application (BAR)

Inherent problems with this approach

• Updates are done manually, by the employee, with
  no validation process
• Information is keyed many times and is
  inconsistent in these systems
• In some cases, employees override the
  information to expedite transactions

• Description of Field and how it was originally
  populated
• Supervised by field is on the job record, if an
  employee has two jobs each record can show a
  separate supervisor
• Information was not maintained in HRS (our old
  system) Departments provided data through
  spreadsheet distributed to Fiscal Agents
  (Twicein March and in December)

• Records were not loaded if
• Employee had a record change from the time of the
  extract (to Fiscal Agents) to the time of the
  load (to Banner)
• Supervisor had a record change from the time of
  the extract (to Fiscal Agents) to the time of the
  load (to Banner)

• How the Supervised By Field will be used now
  and in the future
• Currently used on Supervisor Report and for the
  notification through the Probation End date
  report
• To be used with Learning Central for supervisor
  notification of scheduled classes
• To be used as part of our PeopleAdmin Performance
  Management implementation

Banner Supervised By Field

• Target Date for release of new process is June
  1st, 2008
• Will be accessed through secure site
• Org Security will be applied
• Role security will be assigned and requested
  through the BAR
• Ability to change Supervisor for individual
  employee or entire group of employees
• Ability to view and extract lists by employee or
  by supervisor (in Excel)
