Background

• US government indicated interest in the LLC
  conducting a trial of toll free ENUM
• Preference for use of e164.arpa
• This will require amendment of terms conditions
  re toll free and number usage
• Will also require Canadian agreement

Proposed Trial Scope

• Focus on interactions among Applicant, Registrar,
  and RespOrg in the registration process since
  Registry operations are the same as for
  geographic numbers
• Seek participation of existing TPAC members and
  other interested parties
• New role - RespOrg

Trial Architecture

• Re-use architecture of originally planned
  1.e164.arpa user trial or that of alternate
  trial as much as possible
• Separate Tier 1B may be required
• If multiple parties wish to be Tier 1B Registry
  operators, delegate different toll free NPAs

Trial Phases

• Abbreviated elements of the three phases of the
  current trial
• Registry infrastructure largely in place Phase 1
  mostly delegation of toll free NPA(s) to Tier
  1B(s)
• Phase 2 (Registry-Registrar Operations)
• Initial number registration
• Toll free disconnect (e.g., based on info for
  RespOrg)
• RespOrg transfer
• Phase 3 (Application Testing)
• Call set up of toll free call from VoIP source
