Mission Statement

• As a student run community service organization,
  Safe Rides will provide a reliable and secure way
  for students to remove themselves from
  threatening or potentially harmful situations.
• Establishing a chapter of Safe Rides at Fox Lane
  represents a monumental undertaking in our school
  and local community.
• The program grows out of concern for our peers
  and the greater community.

• Safe Rides is a nationally recognized program
  that provides safe means of transportation for
  local youths to avoid potentially dangerous
  situations.

How it works

• 1. A community center functions as a home base
  for cooperating adults and students.
• 2. Safe Rides workers receive a call
• between 10pm and 2 am.
• 3. Two student drivers are dispatched to the
  location.
• 4. The caller is driven home.
• 5. All rides remain confidential between Safe
  Rides coordinators and the involved student.

Requirements

• Students to operate phones
• Students to operate vehicles
• Adult supervisors
• Community Location Boys and Girls Club and
• Temple Shaaray Tefila

Drivers

• Student are required to pass a Boy Scouts of
  America training program in order to become
  certified Safe Rides drivers.
• Boundaries within the district are outlined in
  order for the program to only be utilized by
  students within the local community.
• Additional insurance is covered by the Boy Scouts
  of America.

Non-Drivers

• Adults and non-driving students remain at the
  base.
• Base is consulted in case of emergency.
• All rides are recorded in the log book, which
  remains confidential.
• All students (both driving and non-driving) are
  awarded community service credit.

• Provides a safe, legal and effective means of
  preventing harmful or fatal accidents from
  occurring.
• The program provides a safe option for student
  transportation.
