and the South East (10.5)

- The principal aim of the Motor Initiative is to
- Offer vocational skills and learning
opportunities to equip young people with the
skills and aptitude for work. - Objectives
- Provide a range of programmes to meet the varied
needs of both young people and industry. - Acknowledge young peoples achievements through
accreditation and endorsement outside of the
national curriculum. - Create an environment that inspires young people
to fulfil their potential

- Young people at risk of exclusion
- 16-18 year olds Not in Education, Employment or
Training (NEET) - 14-17 year olds not fully benefiting from formal
academic education - Young people aspiring to enter onto a modern
apprentice scheme

- ReMEI Operation
- Real garage with real mechanics
- Working in small groups on specific projects -
problem solving, team working, developing core
skills - Predominantly hands on motor projects
complemented by small classes in theory - Potential to gain accreditation and
qualifications if applicable but NOT a
prerequisite.

- 150 young people per year benefiting from
vocational training to prepare them for work - Reduction in crime and risk of crime
- Meeting local skills shortages and business
needs. - Diversion from exclusion and risk of exclusion

the route to long-term sustained employment.
