Contest Directors Symposium
2Mission
- The ACM International Collegiate Programming
Contest (ICPC) provides college students with
opportunities to interact with students from
other universities and to sharpen and demonstrate
their problem-solving, programming, and teamwork
skills. - The contest provides a platform for ACM,
industry, and academia to encourage and focus
public attention on the next generation of
computing professionals as they pursue excellence.
3Goals
- Attract as many students as possible
- Attract as many colleges and universities as
possible - Draw from as many areas of the world as
possible - Provide equitable access to the Contest Finals
- Strive for competitive contests
- Involve Industry and shine the spotlight on
students - Maintain and support the volunteer base

- IBM Media efforts will reach over 1 billion
contacts, many with an interest in technology and
education. - Past World Champions have met with heads of
state. - Over 21,000 students were eligible for one free
year of ACM student membership.

- Increased from 6,099 to 6,700 teams
- Increased from 1,756 to 1,821 universities
- Increased World Finals teams to 100
