Business (Short Stay) Visa

• Includes the subclass 456 or 977 visas
• Visa option for genuine business visitors seeking
  short-term entry to Australia for reasons such
  as
• conduct business negotiations
• exploratory business visits
• attend meetings or conferences
• training purposes
• building inspections or equipment installation
• Subclass 456
• Validity for up to 5 years, allows multiple
  visits of up to 3 months each
• Subclass 977 (Business Electronic Travel
  Authority)
• Validity for up to 1 year, allows multiple visits
  of up to 3 months each

• Known as the subclass 457 visa
• Allows streamlined entry of skilled overseas
  personnel on a temporary basis, whilst
  safeguarding employment opportunities for
  Australians
• Key Features include
• streamlined processing
• requires sponsorship by an employer
• minimum skill and salary levels for employee
• monitoring of sponsors
• Valid for a stay of up to 4 years
• Provides a pathway to permanent residence

• 2 main types of sponsor
• Australian business
• Lawfully and actively operating business (not
  just shelf company)
• Applications and sponsorship can be lodged
  electronically (eVisa)
• Processed in Australia and most contact is
  through the sponsor

• Appropriate if setting up branch/agency in
  Australia or if require employees in Australia to
  meet contract obligations
