Title: Part 2 Until Then
1Part 2 - Until Then
2What are the primary views Christians believe
about the timing and events surrounding the
return of Jesus and the end of the age?
3Is a person made right with God through faith in
Jesus Christ or do they also need works to
justify them before God?
4The only thing that counts is faith expressing
itself in love. Galatians 56
5God saved you by his grace when you believed.
And you cant take credit for this it is a gift
from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good
things we have done, so none of us can boast
about it. Ephesians 28-9 NLT
6For God so loved the world that he gave his one
and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall
not perish but have eternal life. John 316
7The only thing that counts is faith expressing
itself in love. Galatians 56
8Does a Christian go to heaven when they die or do
they not go to heaven until Jesus returns?
9 . . . absent from the body, present with the
Lord. 2 Corinthians 58
10For the Lord himself will come down from heaven,
with a loud command, with the voice of the
archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and
the dead in Christ will rise first. 1
Thessalonians 416

12What kinds of things does Jesus judge us for?
13To those who by persistence in doing good seek
glory, honour and immortality, he will give
eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking
and who reject the truth and follow evil there
will be wrath and anger. Romans 27-8
14"Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming
when all who are in their graves will hear his
voice and come out those who have done what is
good will rise to live, and those who have done
what is evil will rise to be condemned. John
528-29
15Jesus replied " 'Love the Lord your God with all
your heart and with all your soul and with all
your mind. This is the first and greatest
commandment. And the second is like it 'Love
your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the
Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Matthew 2237-40
16DVD Does God judge the motives of our hearts or
just the actions? Can we ever have truly pure
motives?
17What is hell like and how can a loving God send
people there?
18Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but
the righteous to eternal life. Matthew 2546
19It may well be that those creatures that God
intended to live forever in fellowship with him
had to be fashioned in such a way that they would
experience eternal anguish if they chose to live
apart from their Maker. Humans were designed to
live eternally with God if they pervert this
their destiny, they will experience eternally the
consequences of that act. Millard Erickson
20Will there be differing degrees of rewards in
heaven and differing degrees of punishment in
hell?
21"The servant who knows the master's will and does
not get ready or does not do what the master
wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one
who does not know and does things deserving
punishment will be beaten with few blows. From
everyone who has been given much, much will be
demanded and from the one who has been entrusted
with much, much more will be asked. Luke
1247-48
22If what has been built survives, the builder
will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the
builder will suffer loss. 1 Corinthians 314-15
23THE RETURN should cause us to . . .
1. BE ENCOURAGED
I will come back and take you to be with me that
you also may be where I am. John 141-3 (p. 994)
24THE RETURN should cause us to . . .
1. BE ENCOURAGED
2. BE BUSY
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand
firm. Let nothing move you. Always give
yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because
you know that your labor in the Lord is not in
vain. 1 Corinthians 1558 (p. 1064)
25THE RETURN should cause us to . . .
1. BE ENCOURAGED
2. BE BUSY
3. BE HOLY
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and
what we will be has not yet been made known. But
we know that when Christ appears, we shall be
like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who
have this hope in him purify themselves, just as
he is pure. 1 John 32-3 (p. 1130)
