2Ferocious Cats
- The lion is a cat with long brown, gold hair.
- Male lions usually will grow a mane.
- The lion species is mostly found in Savannah
Africa. - This big kitty is a carnivore so it feeds on
meat. - Zebras are its main prey.
- Lions do not have any predator except humans.
- The female lion cleans its cub by licking it with
her tongue. - When the cub is young the female guards the cub.
- Cubs nurse moms rich milk.
3Stripes on the Run
- Zebras live in certain places in Africa.
- Zebras have black and white stripes, and may
have yellow, gray, brown, or may have
buff-colored stripes.
4- Lions are zebras worst enemy, as well, jackals,
wild dogs, and hyenas are their enemies, too. - The mother zebra feeds its foal (baby zebra)
milk, and licks it until the foal is clean. - Zebras only eat grass, shrubs, and herbs.

- Tigers mainly live in rain forests, jungles, and
the plains. - Tigers are carnivores, so they eat all meat
such as wild pigs, rhinos, elephant calves and
elk. - Tigers only have one predator, a human.

orange coats, small ears, yellow eyes, long
whiskers, and rubbery pads. - They cubs drink their mothers milk when they
are young, and when they are still young their
mother bathes them, their mother also teaches
them how to hunt.

- A pandas habitat is in the bamboo forests in
Central China. - It nurses its cubs.
- They are very bear like.
- It has excellent hearing.

- Pandas dont like meeting each other.

- They grow up to 17 feet tall.
- The Giraffe has 7 bones in its neck, just like
humans. - Giraffes can have up to 5 horns.
- When a giraffe eats, their food goes to the first
part of their stomach. Then they burp it up and
chew it again. Its called cud.

Nigerian and Cape Giraffes are some of them. - Giraffes are mammals, which means they feed their
babies milk from their bodies - When a giraffe is born, it has to fall 7 feet.

- Rhinos habitat is in the plains and rainforest.
- They bath in mud to keep cool.
- Rhinos are herbivores.
- Horn is made of hair and can grow back.
- White and black rhinos have no teeth.
- It is one of the rarest animals in the world.
- Predators are tigers, lions, hyenas, and
crocodiles.

- Skin is a suit of amour.
- Can gallop as fast as 25 miles per hour.

- A baby rhinoceros is called a calf.
- Calfs stick close to its mom during years 1-3 of

Most Gorillas live in central Africa. The
Gorillas family usually have to 5 to 10
members. Gorillas are the biggest primate
known. The Mountain Gorilla is the largest and
rarest of the gorillas. It is dark in
color. Their habitat is in the jungle. The
Mountain Gorillas have more hair than Lowland
Gorillas.
16Young Gorillas are always on their mothers
side. A new born baby usually weighs 4 to 5
pounds. Gorillas are herbivores. They mainly eat
twigs, leaves, bark,and grasses. Gorillas get a
lot of water from the plants they eat. They
usually eat thirty pounds of food a day.

- Hippos live Africa's grasslands, rivers and
lakes. - Birds and fish eat the algae and bugs off the
hippos back. - There only two surviving hippo species left.
- The hippos stay in water areas because the sun
peels their skin. - Hippos nibble on water plants during the day.
