• Yertle the turtle,
• King of his great spot.
• Ruled all he saw
• From his grand old rock.

• He wasnt satisfied.
• With the pond where he did reign.
• Wanted to rise higher
• To increase his domain.

• So he called on all his subjects,
• Turtles like himself.
• To make a giant pyramid
• On which to perch himself.

• Thought he could see more,
• Made his subjects suffer,
• Hungry, tired and sore.

• Just thought of all the power
• And subjects he could gain,

• One burped and made him topple
• To the mud where he remains.
