5...Without The Limitations ...
- No matter what the bandwidth connection, join
with others over the network to collaborate - Support diverse endpoints, with each user having
complete and independent control over what they
see and hear without effecting others in the
conference session - Endpoints span from the road warrior on a modem
connected laptop to an executive conference room
with dual projection video monitors
6 Affordable and Scalable
- Distributed System
- No Expensive Video Multipoint Control Unit
- Endpoint negotiate among themselves
- Grow by adding endpoint clients, not servers
7You can get it if you really want it!!!
- ACV Highlights
- High quality desktop IP video without a server
- 20 -party Videoconference
- 225-party Lecture Hall
- Broadcast video
- Streaming video
- Real time document sharing
- Pay-as-you-grow Scaling
- Much lower cost than other solutions
- Standard Internet and Windows platforms

Absolute Affordability
- ACV costs a fraction of other videoconference
systems - Videoconference without a video server or
specialized infrastructure - Uses standard PCs
- Pay-as-you-grow
- Investment protection for data networks, PCs,
cameras, microphones

Fantastic Flexibility
- Works over any TCP/IP network
- (Gigabit, ATM, 10/100 Mb, T1, and ISDN)
- Video and audio dynamically adjust to the power
of each desktop and available bandwidth - Video (40 Kbps to 20 Mbps)
- Audio (10 Kbps to 1.5 Mbps)
- User-definable video window resolutions
- (640x480, 320x240, 160x120)

- So,
- You cant expect to have one PRO (conference
room) with 20 outlying LITE clients. - Even though there is a PRO board, all of the
video from the LITE clients must be decoded in
SW. - Only PRO lt-gt PRO clients take advantage of the HW
card
22Mixing Conference and Streaming Video
- Within a live conference or lecture, a live
broadcast can be added to all clients with no
problem. - Call the broadcasting client as a video server
- Audio is live in every window, through the audio
bridge - All clients receive the live broadcast at the
same time
- Within a live conference or lecture, a
stored-on-disk broadcast can be added, but the
audio is treated differently. - Connect to the stored video through the broadcast
button, then browse the network or local disk for
the video - Each client must connect separately
- Stored Audio does not go the audio bridge
- Click on Conference Video to hear conference
audio - Click on Broadcast Video to hear stored audio
- Each client receives the stored broadcast at
different times
23Mixing Conference and Streaming Video
- So, just how do you achieve full audio
functionality when mixing live and stored videos?
There must be separate audio playback devices on
the client for the live and stored video/audio
streams. -
- Live streams to the ACV PRO board receiving PRO
or LITE video and audio. Audio goes through the
Audio Bridge. - The received stored streaming video is MPEG-1 and
either - Decoded in SW on the computer monitor, with the
audio coming out of the computers sound system. - Decoded in HW using the Optibase MPEG decoder
board with the video and audio going to an
external video monitor. - This cannot be done with just a LITE client, both
the live and stored streams will compete for the
audio output.
