BRINGING SOCIAL ENTERPRISE INTO DENTAL CARE

• A patient is trying to sell his dental
  appointment on internet auction site eBay,
  reports the Daily Record.
• Richard Barrie, 29, waited two years for an NHS
  dental consultation and was then given two
  appointments within weeks of each other.
• The IT worker from Glenrothes, Fife, moved house
  five years ago and had tried in vain to register
  with an NHS dentist in his new area.
• Richard, who will give the proceeds to an animal
  charity, said I thought something had to be done
  to highlight how bad things have got.
• But a spokeswoman for NHS Fife said We view his
  actions as being extremely selfish. It is also
  illegal.

• Prof Kerr stressed the importance of local
  services as he unveiled the 20-year plan for the
  NHS.
• "We need to focus on getting the right services
  out in the community rather than on the bricks
  and mortar of hospital buildings," he said.

  dental care
• Research undertaken proved a social enterprise
  model could deliver a solution locally and at a
  national level as an Industrial and Provident
  Society
• Genesis Dental Care the brand name for the East
  Midlands Community Dental Association became a
  dental body corporate, licensed by the General
  Dental Council, the first new dental body
  corporate in 50 years
