AFIS Overview

• Currently there are 14 livescans located in the
  state
• Currently there are 6 input workstations located
  at NSP, LPD, DCSO, and OPD
• Fingerprint database is located at NSP

• Approximately 300,000 tenprint images
• Approximately 6,000 latent images
• Perform approximately 3,000 searches per month

• Upgraded workflow in 2003 to permit all tenprint
  cards submitted by livescans to print at NSP upon
  final disposition
• Allowed all tenprint submissions to be stored on
  a NIST Archive
• Upgrade allowed automatic update to Nebraska
  Criminal History file upon final disposition
• Upgrade allowed for automatic submission of
  fingerprint data to FBI

• Proposed upgrade in 2004 will provide replacement
  of matching software
• Proposed upgrade in 2004 will provide support for
  UNIX and Windows based machines
